Finish: Pre-sanded with 150 grain. This veneer is best finished with a non-yellowing clear coating with manufacturer approved UV inhibitors. Must be protected with oil, varnish, stain, or wax.
Thickness: 0.6mm veneer on 0.1mm paper backing
Tolerance: ±20mm on dimensions; 60mm/m on flatness
Curve radius: Paper-backed veneer is designed for use on curved surfaces with a minimum recommended bending radius of 150 mm. Tighter bends may be possible using specialised techniques (e.g., steam-bending or vacuum pressing); however, any attempt to use smaller radii should be thoroughly tested and is undertaken at the purchasers own risk.
Recommended application: Ideal for laminating most common wooden substrates. Perfect for doors, wall panels, furniture components, and curved surfaces. Not recommended for solid wood application. Post forming is not possible.
Gluing: Can be manually glued with contact adhesive or in a press (hot max 70°C, or cold). For press applications, PVCA-glue or UF-glue is recommended.
Surface preparation: Ensure all surfaces are free of grease, dust and other dirt. The surface should be cleaned efficiently with denatured ethyl alcohol.
Finishing recommendations: It is preferable to leave 4 or 5 days between gluing and finishing to ensure all solvents from the glue have disappeared.
Edging: Matching veneer edging is available from Bord. While we endeavour to find the best match, please note that edging, even if the same species, may not exactly match the face veneer. Note that Paper Back Veneer can also be used to finish panel edges.
Important notice: As is the nature of natural products, veneers from the same timber species can vary in colour and pattern. This is a natural characteristic of timber veneer and not a defect. When ordering both pre-glued veneer leaves and veneer panels, please be aware these products are manufactured in different locations. While every effort is made to find the closest match, exact matching between these products is not possible. Product images should be used as a general reference only.
